Louisville: Roman Yampolsky, a professor of computer science at the University of Louisville in the US, has predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) could make 99% of workers unemployed by 2030.
This warning to workers comes at a time when companies around the world are increasingly relying on AI systems to reduce costs and increase revenue.
According to Professor Yampolsky, who is considered a prominent voice on AI safety, even coders and prompt engineers will not be immune to the coming wave of automation that could take away almost all jobs.
The professor said, “We are looking at a world where there is a level of unemployment that we have never seen before. We are not talking about 10 percent unemployment, which is scary; it is now talking about 99 percent.” Professor Yampolsky said in ‘The Diary of a CEO’ podcast that human-like intelligence or artificial general intelligence will likely become commonplace by 2027.
