Manchester: In a shocking incident that took place in the UK, a Pakistani doctor left a patient unconscious in an operating theatre and went into another room to have sex with a nurse.

A hearing is underway in a medical tribunal against 44-year-old Sohail Anjum, a doctor from Pakistan, for endangering the patient’s life.

This incident of negligence and carelessness occurred in a hospital in Greater Manchester in 2023 when another nurse entered the room for some work and saw Dr. Sohail in an indecent position with the nurse.

However, the incident has now come before the Medical Tribunal as Dr Sohail Anjum is keen to work in the UK again.

The matter was brought before the Medical Tribunal before he was offered a job in the UK again.

During the hearing, the General Medical Council (GMC) presented evidence of the incident to Dr Sohail, to which he said that his behaviour and conduct were ‘shameless’.

Dr Sohail Anjum told the Tribunal that he had needed a break that day and had left the patient to go to another operating theatre in the hospital.

The evidence shown to Dr Sohail Anjum by the Tribunal referred to the woman as ‘Nurse C’.

Andrew Molly, representing the GMC, told the Medical Tribunal that a nurse had entered the second operating theatre and had seen the doctor and ‘Nurse C’ in an indecent state.

He further told the tribunal that about eight minutes later, Dr. Sohail Anjum returned to the operating theatre and completed the operation on the unconscious patient.

Although the patient did not suffer any harm due to Dr. Anjum’s absence from the operating theatre, it was a case of blatant medical negligence and carelessness.

Dr. Sohail Anjum admitted that his behaviour could have put the patient’s life at risk. While apologizing for his behaviour, he assured that this mistake would not happen again.

Dr. Sohail Anjum said that when the incident happened, he and his wife were struggling to cope as a couple due to the birth of their daughter. It was a difficult period.
