London: Speaking on the Canadian Community TV channel against the forcible entry of police personnel into Islamabad Press Club and violence against journalists and employees, London Media Club President Dr. Akhtar Gulfam said that we saw martial law, emergency and emergency plus, such incidents did not happen even during that period.
If a person wanted by the police or state institutions came inside the Press Club, law enforcement officials would stand outside so that the person wanted could come out and complete the legal action.
He said that today’s incident is not an ordinary one but the worst in the history of Pakistan. Federal police personnel entered the Press Club and damaged property, broke utensils in the kitchen, and tortured the photographers and video journalists present there. Their cameras were broken.
London Media Club President Dr. Akhtar Gulfam added that I have come to know that when they tried to stop the said officials, they and the club employees were also tortured. While the torturers were leaving, they also arrested and took away two employees, who were later released.
London Media Club President Dr. Akhtar Gulfam added that the Press Club is the second home of journalists. We will not allow it if the officials enter our house and vandalize and torture us.
