Washington: After criticism from British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, US President Donald Trump has changed his statement regarding British soldiers in Afghanistan.

In his latest statement, President Trump described British soldiers as great and brave and said that British soldiers have always stood by America.

The US President said that 457 British soldiers were killed or seriously injured during the war in Afghanistan, and they were among the best fighters in the world. According to President Trump, the military relationship between the US and the UK is such a strong bond that can never be broken.

According to the American broadcaster CNN, President Trump wrote on Truth Social that ‘457 British military personnel have died in Afghanistan, many seriously injured, and they are among the greatest warriors in the world.’

He said This is a bond that can never be broken.’

According to the American President, the British Army is an army that serves with immense passion, heart and soul and is second to none (except the American Army).’

He added We love you all and always will.’

It should be recalled that in an interview given to the American TV channel Fox News on Thursday, President Trump appeared to be unaware that 457 British soldiers had lost their lives fighting in Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

During the interview, Donald Trump said, “They (NATO) say they sent some troops to Afghanistan.” The US President added, “And they sent troops, but they stayed a little behind, a little away from the front lines.” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called President Trump’s statement “ridiculous and shameful.”
