Eid prayers are not allowed in Srinagar, Mirwaiz is under house arrest

Daily Dawn News, Dawn TV Report

Srinagar: Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir have reached their peak, Eid prayers were not even allowed in Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the administration under the Lieutenant Governor imposed by Narendra Modi in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir did not allow Kashmiri Muslims to offer Eid-ul-Adha prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar.

The administration did not allow Eid prayers at both important places on the orders of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah. Since the end of the special status of occupied Kashmir in 2019, Kashmiri Muslims have been continuously prevented from offering Eid prayers at both these places.

The Auqaf Association has expressed strong displeasure over this. In a statement, the Auqaf said that the doors of the mosque were closed and police personnel were deployed outside. Even this morning, Fajr prayers were not allowed to be offered in the Jamia Masjid.

Meanwhile, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, expressed his deep anger over the administration’s move in a tweet, writing that it is regrettable that Eid prayers were not allowed to be offered in the Eidgah and the Jamia Masjid was sealed.
