Karachi: The Acting Governor of Sindh Awais Qadir Shah could not hold a meeting on law and order due to the alleged non-opening of the Governor’s House office. The acting governor expressed his deep anger over the situation and approached the Sindh High Court. The court allowed him to use the office. Governor Sindh Kamran Tesori ordered an investigation into the incident.
Acting Governor Sindh Owais Qadir Shah called a meeting on law and order at the Governor’s House today, in which the Sindh Home Minister, IG Sindh, all four DIGs, DIG CTD and other officials were to attend. Most of the officers reached the Governor’s House to attend the meeting, but the staff did not open the office.
The Acting Governor Sindh was furious at this situation and said that constitutional work cannot be stopped. Closing offices like this is a mockery of his position. The staff of the Governor House receives a salary from the Sindh government. It is a shameful act to obstruct law and order meetings at the Governor’s House.
He said that the staff of the Governor’s House has prevented the Acting Governor from exercising his powers of office many times in the past.
Despite the expression of anger by Acting Governor Sindh Owais Qadir Shah, the Governor’s Office was not opened and the entire staff of the Governor House disappeared.
Later, the acting governor of Sindh, Owais Shah, approached the Sindh High Court on this matter and submitted an affidavit to the court. The court accepted the request of Owais Qadir Shah for an urgent hearing.
Owais Qadir Shah took the position in the application that Kamran Tesori has been abroad since June 2, as the acting governor, he is not being given access to the Governor’s House.
Preventing the acting governor of Sindh from conducting official business in the Governor’s House is a violation of Article 104 of the Constitution.
Later, the court allowed the acting governor to enter the Governor’s House immediately. The court ordered that access to other offices besides the residential rooms be given. The court has sought a report from the Principal Secretary on June 23.
