Sahiwal: All issues are being implemented to control crime in the Sahiwal district. Over the last six months, there has been a significant decrease in crime in Sahiwal district, and during this period, the most notorious proclaimed offenders, who were a symbol of terror across Punjab, were arrested. These views were expressed by DPO Sahiwal Rana Tahir Rehman in his panel interview with the most widely published and Newspaper of the Year Award-winning newspaper Nawa-i-Waqt London, English newspaper Daily Dawn London, OK TV and Dawn TV (UK) Bureau Chief Rana Waheed and Crime Reporter Syed Alamdar Hussain Zaidi at the DPO Office Sahiwal. He said that practical steps are being taken for better protection of the citizens of Sahiwal, and they are always ready to provide better facilities to the citizens. The police arrested 61 members of 18 dangerous gangs involved in various incidents and recovered stolen property worth more than Rs 36.5 million and handed it over to the original owners. Compared to last year, 2024, the investigation system in Sahiwal has also been improved under effective supervision, which has increased the rate of prosecution of cases and submission of challan records in the courts in murder cases. Similarly, there has been a 63% increase in robbery cases, 44% in motorcycle theft, 29% in motorcycle snatching cases and 100% in theft cases. Sahiwal Police, while developing the checkpoint and checking system on modern lines, checked 215,797 people and 438,351 vehicles, while more than 724 vehicles and motorcycles snatched from citizens were recovered. In the operations against criminals, 2235 fugitives, 453 court fugitives and more than 590 habitual criminals were arrested. During the intensive crackdown against drug peddlers, 834 cases were registered and 838 accused were arrested, from whose possession 200 kg of hashish, 51 kg heroin, 5 kg opium, 3 kg ice, 9581 liters of alcohol and 46 furnaces were recovered. Effective action was also taken against illegal arms holders, under which 530 cases were registered and 533 accused were arrested, from whose possession a large quantity of arms were recovered. On the instructions of Sahiwal, more than 4000 search operations were conducted across the district, in which 310365 people were checked and more than 300 cases were registered. Under the leadership of RPO Sahiwal, Sahiwal Police not only adopted a strategy to eliminate crime but also made the police system active, people-friendly and productive through effective supervision and teamwork at all levels, which is a practical step towards a safe and peaceful Sahiwal.
