Lahore: “Her Climate Conference” Climate Gala 2025 concludes at the College for Women University.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Romina Khursheed Alam said that the government is making joint efforts for the goals of climate change (SDG-13) and gender equality (SDG-5) to ensure equitable access to resources. She urged young girls to play an active role in implementing national environmental policies and take advantage of opportunities available in energy, agriculture and other sectors. She appreciated the ministry’s collaboration with FDI and Banyan, saying that these institutions are playing a valuable role in promoting women’s inclusion and empowerment.
She expressed these views while attending the closing session of the second “HER Climate Conference” under the “Climate Gala 2025” at Lahore College for Women University in collaboration with FDI and Banyan. Addressing the conference, Senator Bushra Anjum Butt said that environmental education and first responder courses are being introduced for students. She urged women to participate fully in these programs, as women are usually more affected by environmental crises like drought and floods, which directly affect their daily lives.
Sabiha Shaheen, Executive Director of the Forum for Dignity Initiative, said that each climate conference “will highlight women’s specific environmental issues and help them play a more active role in decision-making, but the conference aims to promote gender-sensitive climate action in Pakistan.” Uzma Yaqoob, Executive Director of FDI, said that the conference is strengthening the foundation for inclusive and gender-sensitive climate action in Pakistan. Ali Dada said that FPCCI is taking special steps to increase environmental awareness at the business and policy levels. During a panel discussion at the conference titled “Breaking Barriers: Women Leading Climate Solutions in Pakistan,” Dr. Ayesha Saleem said that it is important to make environmental education materials accessible to people with disabilities so that they can better cope with environmental challenges. Professor Dr. Arifa Tahir said that it is imperative to make climate change education a part of the curriculum in universities as it provides students with practical skills and prepares them to respond to emergencies. Enables me to be a first responder. On the occasion of the conference, 50 stalls were set up in the “Green Bazaar” where locally produced eco-friendly products and solutions were presented. Participants inspected these stalls and expressed interest in various models, products and ideas for promoting a sustainable environment. The conference was attended by more than 500 female students, religious leaders, policy makers, educationists, civil society representatives, youth and environmentalists.
