China: China has dismissed two more high-ranking generals from the army and the ruling Communist Party for corruption.
According to the French news agency AFP, the Chinese government announced these dismissals and said that this move is part of an ongoing corruption investigation against nine senior military officers.
The move is a continuation of the anti-corruption campaign led by President Xi Jinping for the past decade, which aims to promote transparency in all areas of the party and state.
According to Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang, He Weidong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), is among the nine people who were dismissed from the army for “serious violations.”
He Weidong had not been seen in public since March, sparking speculation about him, but no formal investigation had been announced against him.
