Lahore: Faisalabad Division won the final of the Punjab Chief Minister Summer Games Interdivision Kabaddi, Lahore won the girl’s hockey final while Multan Division won the boy’s hockey final. Provincial Minister for Sports Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar was the chief guest of the Kabaddi final and closing ceremony. Secretary Sports Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial and Director General Sports Khizar Fazal Chaudhry were also present. Provincial Minister for Sports Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar distributed prizes of Rs 23 lakh 80 thousand to the Kabaddi teams and Rs 28 lakh 80 thousand to the hockey girls and boys teams at the closing ceremony of the Chief Minister Punjab Summer Games.
In the Kabaddi final, Faisalabad defeated Lahore Division 52-41, Lahore won Faisalabad in girls hockey. won the title by defeating 8-2. For Lahore, Sharqa scored 5 goals, Laiba Yasmin 2 and Asma scored one goal, while Sehrish scored two goals for Faisalabad. In boys’ hockey, Multan defeated Lahore 2-1. For Multan, Mahad and Khabib scored one goal each, while Samiullah scored the only goal for Lahore. Provincial Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, while addressing the closing ceremony, said that all the players are heroes of Pakistan. I congratulate the winning teams in the Summer Games. New talent is being brought to the fore through such events. The prizes are not just money but are an acknowledgment of their hard work, dedication and ability. Under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, sports fields are being rehabilitated in Punjab. Such tournaments are a means of developing young talent and, God willing, these players will win gold medals for Pakistan in the future. The Provincial Minister paid tribute to the Sports Department for the exemplary arrangements for the Summer Games and said that excellent arrangements were made for accommodation, food and medical facilities for the players. He termed initiatives like “Khelata Punjab”, “Rising Punjab” “Summer Camps” and Summer Games, Pink Games as positive guidance for the youth. Provincial Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar also announced that the Pink Games to be held this year will be held on a scale twice that of last year. The Chief Minister Punjab Games were held from June 12 to 18 at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex in Lahore, in which more than 700 girls and boys players from 9 divisions across Punjab participated. The Summer Games witnessed spectacular competitions in Kabaddi, Hockey, Volleyball and Badminton. The players were awarded prizes worth a total of Rs 7.5 million in the Summer Games. The Faisalabad team emerged victorious in the Kabaddi competitions and was entitled to a prize money of Rs 1.4 million, while the Lahore team was the runner-up and was entitled to a prize money of Rs 9.8 million. Similarly, in the hockey boys’ competition, the Multan team was the winner and received a prize money of Rs. 900,000, while the runner-up team received Rs. 540,000. In the hockey girls’ competition, Lahore won the title. Lahore received a prize money of Rs. 900,000, while the runner-up team, Faisalabad, received a prize money of Rs. 540,000. In the badminton boys’ competition, the winning team received Rs. 350,000, while the runner-up received Rs. 210,000. Similarly, in the badminton girls’ competition, the winning team received Rs. 350,000, while the runner-up received Rs. 210,000. The winning team in volleyball received Rs. 500,000 and the runner-up received Rs. 420,000.
Director Admin Dr. Muhammad Kaleem, Director Sports Ranandim Anjum, all divisional sports officers, Kabaddi captains Irfan Mana, Irfanullah, Arshad Sattar, Olympian Shahbaz Senior, Rahat Khan, Tahiruhaid Jatt and sports-related personalities were also present at the closing ceremony.
