Punjab, ‘Minority Week’ is being celebrated with great enthusiasm on the occasion of Independence Day

The rally started from Cathedral Church Mall Road and ended at Minar Pakistan via Krishna Mandir, Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Badshahi Mosque

Lahore: On the occasion of Independence Day, the Punjab government is celebrating “Minority Week” with great enthusiasm for the first time to pay tribute to religious harmony, tolerance and the national services of minorities. In this regard, an interfaith peace rally was held in Lahore, which became a practical demonstration of religious harmony.

The rally in Lahore started from Cathedral Church Mall Road and ended at Minar Pakistan via Krishna Mandir, Gurdwara Dera Sahib, and Badshahi Mosque.

The participants visited the Iqbal shrine, where they were welcomed by Imam Khatib Badshahi Masjid Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad. On this occasion, special prayers were offered in all places of worship for the progress, prosperity and lasting peace of Pakistan and saplings were planted near the church, temple, Gurdwara Sahib and Minar Pakistan.

Provincial Minister for Information Uzma Bukhari and Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora, along with minority members of the Punjab Assembly, former head of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Sardar Bishan Singh, Bishop of Lahore Nadeem Kamran, Parliamentary Secretary Sonia Asher, Secretary Human Rights Farid Ahmed Tarar, MPA Baba Fabulous, Shakeela Arthur, Emmanuel Athar, MPA Tariq Gul, members of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, foreign diplomats, civil society and minority representatives, religious and social leaders participated in the procession.

The participants of the convoy were taken to places of worship in special double-decker buses, with chants of “Long live Pakistan” and “Long live the Pak Army” echoing throughout the route.
