Only 48% of Pakistani children have access to breast milk: WHO reveals

Geneva: According to data from the World Health Organization and Nutrition International, more than 33,700 child deaths, 6.6 million cases of diarrhea and 2.7 million years of education are lost in Pakistan every year due to low breast milk intake.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that only 48.4% of children under the age of six months in Pakistan are exclusively breastfed, which is less than the 2030 global target of 60%. This deficit causes a loss of more than Rs 790 billion to the economy and thousands of deaths every year.

According to data from the World Health Organization and Nutrition International, less breastfeeding results in more than 33,700 child deaths, 6.6 million cases of diarrhea, and 2.7 million years of education being lost in Pakistan every year.
