Gilgit-Baltistan: 35 police personnel were suspended for demanding an increase in daily allowance in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Last night, hundreds of male and female police personnel protested in front of the Chief Minister’s House and sat on a sit-in all night demanding an increase in daily allowance.

Two separate notifications were issued by the Gilgit Reserve Police (RP) and the Senior Superintendent of Police of Hunza, according to which 26 police personnel were suspended in Gilgit yesterday and another 9 in Hunza today.

The Gilgit Reserve Police notification cited the suspension as “a serious violation of the civil servant code of conduct,” while the Hunza notification simply stated that they participated in the protest.

Both notifications, copies of which are available with Dawn News, also stated that the salaries of the suspended officers have also been stopped.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Police claimed on social media that 63 officers had been dismissed from service for breach of discipline, but an official notification has not yet been issued.
