Dubai: The Pakistan-India match played at the Dubai Stadium in the Asia Cup 2025 was one-sided in terms of play, but an incident that occurred after the match raised questions about the tradition of cricket. The Indian team avoided the traditional handshake after the victory and went straight back to the dressing room, which was regretted by fans and experts.

A few days ago, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav shook hands during a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, for which he faced severe criticism in India. Due to this pressure, Yadav refrained from shaking hands with Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha during the toss of the Pakistan-India match.

The situation became even more unpleasant when, after the match, Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha and coach Mike Hesson went to the Indian dressing room, only to find the doors locked and no players coming out. Coach Mike Hesson said:
“We wanted to maintain the tradition of the game and were ready to shake hands, but unfortunately, the Indian team had already gone to the dressing room. It was a disappointing way to end the game.”

According to reports in Dawn TV, Indian media and NDTV, the decision was pre-planned and Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir had instructed the players not to shake hands or talk to the Pakistani team.
