QUETTA: At least eight people were killed and nearly two dozen were injured in bomb blasts in Pakistan’s restive southwestern region of Balochistan within hours.
The first attack took place in Balochistan’s Turbat district when a suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into a security convoy. Two security personnel were killed and 23 were injured in the attack, according to police official Elahi Bakhsh.
A few hours later, another car bomb exploded in the southwestern city of Chaman, near the Afghan border, killing six people, said Imtiaz Ali, a government administrator.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, but suspicion is being placed on the Pakistani Taliban and Baloch separatists, who often target security forces and civilians in the province.
The latest attack comes two weeks after a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a stadium near the city of Quetta, as supporters of a nationalist party were leaving a rally. The attack killed 13 people.
