Sahiwal: A training session was held on Teaching Hospital Waste Management Protocols, led by Medical Superintendent Dr. Zulfiqar Haider Jam, in which nurses, doctors, paramedical staff and sanitation workers participated enthusiastically. During the training, the participants were made aware of the modern principles of disposing of hospital waste in a safe, scientific and environmentally friendly manner. On this occasion, MS said that all resources are being utilized for the improvement of the hospital. Medicines are being provided free of cost to every patient coming in an emergency. List-wise operations are being performed in the hospital theaters daily. The shortage of medicine will be met soon. Canteen matters are being improved. Children’s and women’s wards are being separated. Up to three doctors will perform duties as per the roster in the outdoor and wards. No negligence of any kind will be tolerated. An open-door policy has been implemented for the complaints of patients. The entire hospital has been centralized with oxygen. The laundry plant will also be completed soon. In the big news for the people of Sahiwal, the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology, in which the process of angiography and NGO plasty and operation has started, and now the process of dental scanning will also start soon. On this occasion, experts explained in detail that the waste is divided into different types and separated. Why is disposal important, and how can even a slight negligence in this process lead to dangerous consequences? On this occasion, the staff was trained with practical demonstrations on the use of red, yellow, black and green coded waste containers. Dr. Zulfiqar Haider Jam said in his address that maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment of the hospital is the common responsibility of all of us. Full implementation of waste management principles is essential not only for the health and safety of the patients but also for the health and safety of the hospital staff. He added that the administration will monitor daily to ensure strict implementation of all waste management SOPs. Nursing staff and doctors also expressed their views on the occasion and said that this type of training is very useful in practice, as it helps in solving the problems encountered during work. Dr. Zulfiqar Haider appreciated the performance of the waste management team and thanked all the participants and saying that the hospital administration will continue such training activities in the future so that Sahiwal Teaching Hospital can be included among the exemplary institutions of the province.
