London, Riyadh: The recent Iranian missile attack on the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia damaged 5 US Air Force refueling tanker planes, the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal has revealed. According to the newspaper, two American officials have confirmed the incident.

According to American officials, the attack was carried out in recent days by Iranian missiles, in which US Air Force refueling planes on the ground were targeted. Officials say that the planes were partially damaged in the attack, but they were not completely destroyed.

According to the newspaper, the affected planes are KC-135 model refueling tankers, which are used to refuel warplanes in the air during air operations.

A similar US refueling plane crashed in Iraq a few days ago. US officials have called it an accident.

According to a US official, Saudi Arabia has begun repairing the planes after the attack and is trying to get them back into service.

Officials said no military personnel were reported killed or injured in the missile attack.

Prince Sultan Air Base is located 70 km southeast of the Saudi capital Riyadh.

CENTCOM, the command headquarters that oversees US military operations in the Middle East, has declined to comment officially on the incident.

According to international media reports, the attack has raised new questions about the security of US military installations in the region. Some reports also say that the total number of losses to US aircraft in various incidents during the recent tensions is increasing.
