Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines has announced that it is resuming direct flights to London from March 2026 after a gap of six years.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the national airline is increasing its flights to the UK and four weekly flights will be operated from Islamabad to London from March 29, 2026.
He said that these flights will be operated from Terminal 4 of London’s Heathrow Airport, and this service is being resumed after a long gap of six years.
According to the spokesperson, London has been PIA’s first international destination, and it is still one of its most important routes.
He said that the national airline is already operating three weekly flights to Manchester.
In June 2020, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency had banned PIA from flying to European countries based on safety concerns. The decision was taken after a plane coming from Lahore to Karachi crashed near Jinnah International Airport, in which about 100 passengers were killed. After this, the then Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan had termed the pilots’ licenses as questionable in parliament.
The European Aviation Agency lifted the ban on PIA on November 28, 2024, after more than four years. Following this, in July 2025, the UK removed Pakistan from its air safety list, as a result of which Pakistani airlines were allowed to apply for flights to the UK.
In September, PIA received approval to resume direct flights to the UK after nearly five years, following which flights to Manchester were resumed in the first phase.
At the time, the airline also said that flights to Birmingham and London would also be resumed in the future.
