London: Pakistan’s Dr. Mahira Abdul Ghani has created a new history by completing her PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy from Cambridge University. She has become the first woman from Pakistan to receive this honor in this field.
Dr. Mahira started her academic life with an engineering degree from Pakistan. Later, she studied in Germany and France, where she was awarded the prestigious ‘Erasmus Mundus Scholarship’ of the European Union.
The topic of her PhD research was 2D materials, which provide solutions to challenges faced in modern electronics. During her research, she gained expertise in advanced and complex technologies such as nanofabrication, which is considered very important for future devices.
