Delhi: BCCI sources told the Indian Express newspaper that ‘the Indian team cannot play in a tournament that is organized by the ACC and headed by a Pakistani minister.’

In the wake of tense relations between Pakistan and India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to stay away from all events held under the banner of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

According to a report published by the Indian Express on Monday, the BCCI has informed the ACC of its decision not to participate in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka next month and the biennial Men’s Asia Cup scheduled for September.

However, no official statement has been made by the Indian Cricket Board in this regard.

It should be noted that the current head of the ACC is Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
