Sahiwal: A ceremony to distribute assistive devices to special people was organized in Sahiwal district under the “Zindagi Asan Program” for the disabled by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. According to local journalist Mubashir Shafiq Chohan, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Director Social Welfare Asma Noreen and Deputy Director Muhammad Abbas Chohan were also present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood said that the program to provide assistive devices to special people is a revolutionary initiative of the Chief Minister of Punjab. He said that the Punjab government is spending a huge amount of money on the welfare of special people. He added that the Himmat Card and Assistive Device Program was launched to solve the problems faced by special people. Director of Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Asma Noreen said that the Department of Social Welfare and Baitul Mal is delivering the rights of the beneficiaries to their doorsteps under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab. On this occasion, Deputy Director Muhammad Abbas Chohan said that under the program, 484 disabled people in the Sahiwal district will be provided with assistive devices. He said that in the first phase, 28 wheelchairs, one walking frame, one rollator and 7 white canes are being distributed among 37 special people. He further said that the program for providing assistive devices to special people is being made clean and transparent in every respect.
