Both teams failed to score in extra time, after which the match was decided on penalty kicks.
Portugal scored 5 goals on penalty kicks, while the Spanish team could only put the ball in the net 3 times.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his career-high 138th goal in the match.
France defeated host Germany in the event and secured third place. France’s Kylian Mbappe also reached fifty international goals.
