Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has completed preparations to nominate the same captain in Test, ODI, and T20 formats.
Sources close to the PCB have said that after consulting head coach Mike Hesson, there is a possibility of handing over the leadership of the national team to the same player in all three formats.
All-rounder Agha Salman was appointed captain during the tour of Zimbabwe and white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan was rested, however, now news is coming out that the future of Test captain Shan Masood and Rizwan as captains is in jeopardy.
Reports claim that Salman Ali Agha was able to impress the selection committee, new head coach Hesson and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and all three are on the same page on making him the captain.
An announcement is also expected to make Salman Agha the captain in all three formats.
Shan Masood was appointed captain of the Test team in November 2023, but his leadership did not achieve significant results, however, he had to face the worst defeat at the hands of Bangladesh for the first time on home ground.
Under his captaincy, Pakistan played 12 Test matches, winning only 3 of them and losing 9. Similarly, Pakistan’s journey in the World Test Championship cycle 2023-25 was disappointing and it achieved 9th position.
On the other hand, under the leadership of white-ball captain Muhammad Rizwan, Pakistan has faced the worst defeats as hosts in the Champions Trophy and in the tour of New Zealand.
