Nutrition International organizes training workshops, and more than 25 millers from Punjab participate

Sahiwal: Nutrition International organized a training workshop on quality control and fortification of edible oil, more than 25 millers from all over Punjab participated, expressing the full cooperation of the industry to overcome the deficiency of micronutrients. According to the details, a comprehensive training workshop was organized under the auspices of Nutrition International on quality control and quality assurance of edible oil, which aimed to enhance the skills and technical knowledge related to the fortification of edible oil millers from different districts of Punjab. More than 25 millers participated in the training session and were given practical training on fortification, quality control, regulatory requirements and modern testing methods under the guidance of industry experts, scientists and experts from higher education institutions. The training workshop was led by General Manager (Quality) United Industries Faisalabad Naeem Anjum as the lead trainer, who gave a detailed briefing to the participants on the modern requirements and standards of fortification of edible oils. Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, Head of the Food Science and Technology Department of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan, gave a detailed talk on the challenges of deficiency of various micronutrients in Pakistan and the role of fortified edible oils as a solution to them. On this occasion, Provincial Program Manager Azizur Rehman presented the details of the “Millers for Nutrition (M4N)” project and highlighted the steps taken to improve the fortification process. The guest of honor of the event was Director Fatima Vegetable Oil Mills Muhammad Hazifa Naveed, representing the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturing Association (PVMA), who appreciated the initiatives of Nutrition International and assured the industry’s full support and cooperation in the fortification program. This workshop is not only an important step towards improving the quality of edible oils but will also help in addressing the important issue of micronutrient deficiency in Pakistan.
