Chairman became king and started robbing the institution: Illegal allowances of Rs 56 million revealed in PTA

Islamabad: The chairman became king and started robbing the institution. It has been revealed that the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and members took allowances of Rs 56 million illegally.

In this regard, the audit authorities gave a detailed briefing to the sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

A meeting of the PAC sub-committee was held under the chairmanship of Convener Malik Amir Dogar, in which the audit objections related to PTA were reviewed.

The audit authorities told the committee that allowances of Rs 55 million were given to the chairman and members of PTA from 2008 to now, out of which allowances of Rs 11.3 million were taken illegally in 2021.

Officials said that it is against the law to provide separate allowances to MP-1 and MP-2 grade officers and that the chairman and members of the PTA have been receiving these amounts illegally.
