Islamabad: The verbal war between the former and current leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reached the court front. PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram has filed a claim for one billion in damages against Fawad Chaudhry in the District and Sessions Courts, Islamabad.
In the petition filed in the District and Sessions Court, Islamabad, Sheikh Waqas Akram has claimed one billion in damages against Fawad Chaudhry, alleging that Fawad Chaudhry makes false and insulting statements on social media platforms.
Sheikh Waqas Akram, in his claim for damages, stated that he is a respected citizen and an elected representative of the people in the National Assembly, and that Fawad Chaudhry’s false statements have harmed his reputation among the public.
Additional Sessions Judge Sohail Sheikh heard Sheikh Waqas Akram’s defamation claim, and the court called for preliminary arguments at the next hearing of the case. Further hearing on the defamation claim was adjourned until July 12.
It should be noted that in February, Fawad Chaudhry had said that Sheikh Waqas Akram sold the entire Pakhtunkhwa government, the founder was told that billions of rupees were paid in Malaysia, and Mosaddeq Abbasi is investigating the matter.
Fawad Chaudhry had alleged in a message on the social networking website that Salman Akram Raja, Sheikh Waqas and Rauf Hassan are running fake accounts, which have caused serious damage to Imran Khan and the party.
He also alleged that Sheikh Waqas Akram started his career by supplying weapons to Afghan Mujahideen. Sheikh Waqas had collected money from Pervez Musharraf, Pervez Elahi, Faryal Talpur, and Hamza Shahbaz.
