Gujranwala: Provincial Sports Minister Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar formally inaugurated the Wrestling Sports Complex and Mini Stadium equipped with modern facilities in Gujranwala. Upon reaching the stadium, the Provincial Sports Minister of Punjab was warmly welcomed and garlanded with flowers, and petals were showered on him. The ceremony was attended by Secretary of Sports Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial, MNA Shahid Usman, MPA Nawaz Chauhan, MPA Shazia Farid, Deputy Project Director North Zone Syed Ahmed Aizaz, Divisional Sports Officer Faisal Ameer Khan, and International Wrestler Inam Butt and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Sports Minister Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar stated that, according to the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, a network of sports infrastructure is being established across the province to attract the youth to positive activities. The establishment of a wrestling sports complex in Gujranwala, which is known as the city of wrestlers, is a historic step, which is a gift from the Chief Minister Punjab to the youth of the area. Provincial Sports Minister Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar further said that the wrestling complex built under the Sports Department Punjab has cost Rs 155 million, while its indoor hall has a capacity of 400 spectators and the ground has a capacity of 500 spectators. It has facilities for both clay and mat wrestling, modern floodlights, a gymnasium and complete facilities for organizing day and night competitions. This complex will not only promote talent at the local level but is also suitable for hosting national and international competitions. The provincial minister further said that the mini stadium, which will be built at a cost of Rs 75 million, will provide facilities for various sports including football, hockey, volleyball, while it has an open gym, jogging track, modern floodlights, seating capacity for more than four thousand spectators and an excellent training environment for the players. The provincial sports minister emphasized that we are committed to the mission of attracting the youth towards positive activities. These projects will not only lead the new generation towards a healthy lifestyle but will also enable them to make Pakistan famous at the international level. However, today we have fulfilled the long-standing demand of the youth of the city of wrestlers. The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of wrestling enthusiasts, local residents and dignitaries.
