Islamabad: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan on Monday issued a new international tender for the purchase of 100,000 metric tonnes of sugar.

According to European traders, the last date for submitting price offers for sugar has been set for August 11.

Traders say that the announcement indicates that Pakistan will not make any purchases from its previous tender for 100,000 tonnes of sugar issued on July 31.

On July 8, the Pakistani government approved a plan to import 500,000 tonnes of sugar to maintain stability in sugar prices.

According to market analysts, retail prices of sugar have increased significantly in the country since January.
