London: The United Nations and other international journalism organizations, including Pakistan, have condemned the targeting and killing of six journalists in the Israeli attack on Gaza.

In a statement from London, the Pakistan British Editors Council and London Media Club President Dr. Akhtar Gulfam said that this is not the first time that Israeli forces have targeted media workers; such incidents have occurred in the past as well.

Dr. Akhtar Gulfam, President of the Pakistan British Editors Council, and Khadim Hussain Nasir, Secretary, said that “the Israeli government’s attitude of avoiding accountability emboldens its forces to target innocent civilians, including journalists who are carrying out their professional duties in conflict areas.”

According to the Pakistan British Editors Council and the London Media Club, more than 186 journalists and media workers have lost their lives in Israeli attacks so far.

The Pakistan British Editors Council and the London Media Club called on the international community to take immediate notice and put pressure on Tel Aviv to stop targeting civilians and media professionals.

The statement added, “Such tragedies could have been prevented if the international community had taken action earlier on the killings of journalists and bombings of media offices.”

The Pakistan British Editors Council and the London Media Club reiterated that Pakistan’s journalism community stands in complete solidarity with all journalists and media workers who are on the ground, risking their lives to report.
