Islamabad: After four days of negotiations on the issue of the demolished Madani Mosque near Rawal Dam Chowk, the government has decided to rebuild the mosque at the same location.

The federal government has agreed to restore the original status of the demolished Madani Mosque near Rawal Dam Chowk and rebuild it.

After four days of negotiations, the government finally agreed that the Madani Mosque will be rebuilt at the same location within four months and the construction will begin after Friday prayers on August 22.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Islamabad administration by Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Sahibzada Muhammad Yousuf.

According to the agreement, the mosque will be rebuilt by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the state will make arrangements for congregational prayers during the construction.

The agreement also states that the government’s plan to demolish 50 other mosques has been declared fake and the Islamabad administration has not released any list in this regard.

It has been further stated that if any issue arises regarding any mosque in Islamabad in the future, the administration will consult the Ulema Action Committee.

The agreement came as a surprise when government representatives, including Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, recently stated in the National Assembly that the Madani Mosque was demolished with the consent of its administration and a religious seminary was established in its place at the government’s expense.

A senior official of the Islamabad administration said that the mosque and its attached seminary were shifted from Murree Road because they were located on an important VIP route and were considered a security threat.
