Bank accounts of the entire family were blocked on false charges of blasphemy, says the former president’s lawyer

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has stopped government agencies from arresting former President Dr. Arif Alvi and his family. The apex court has sought a report from the parties by October 21.

An investigation was initiated against the former president and 12 members of his family by the National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), against which Arif Alvi had approached the court.

In the petition filed in the court, it was stated that the bank accounts of former President Arif Alvi and 12 members of his family were frozen.

The investigating officer told the court that the National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency is investigating the allegations of blasphemy against the petitioner. Despite the notice, the petitioner did not appear for the investigation.
The petitioner’s lawyer said that there is a false allegation of blasphemy against his client, the NCCIA does not have the authority to block anyone’s bank accounts, the allegation is against one person and the bank accounts of the entire family have been blocked.

The court directed not to detain Dr. Arif Alvi, Sahibzada Awab Alvi and others and directed the entire family, including the former president, to appear before the NCCIA.
