Delhi: The Indian government has finally recognized Shah Rukh Khan as the best actor. The first National Film Award was given to the Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan, who has given 33 years to the showbiz industry.
The Indian government organizes the National Film Awards festival every year, in which awards are given to many actors and those who have played prominent roles in other film sectors, including films.
The National Film Awards series was started in 1954, and now, for the first time, Shah Rukh Khan, who is famous all over the world, has been awarded the award under the same film series.
Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Best Actor award, while newcomer Vikrant Massey was also awarded the National Award in the Best Actor category.
Actress Rani Mukerji was also awarded the National Award for Best Actress. The Best Feature Film award was given to 12th Fail, while awards were also given to films in other regional languages, including Telugu and Tamil.
A total of 21 awards were given in the 71st National Film Awards 2025 festival of the Government of India; the awards were distributed in 19 categories.
Out of all 19 categories, one award was given in each category, but two awards were given in the Best Actor category, out of which one award was given to Shah Rukh Khan.
The awards were given in the categories of Best Hindi Film, Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Best Film Critic, Best Action Direction, Best Song, Best Director, Best Popular Film, Best Telugu Film, Best Gujarati Film, Best Tamil Film, Best Kannada Film, Best Female Playback Singer, Best Male Playback Singer, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Make-up and Costume Designer, Re-Recording Mixer and Best Sound Design.
It should be noted that although Shah Rukh Khan started his career by acting in dramas on the Indian state-run television Doordarshan (DD) in 1988, his first film, ‘Deewana’ was released in 1992.
Shah Rukh Khan won the hearts of the audience in his very first film, and in his first year, he worked in 7 films and became the king of Bollywood instantly.
Although Shah Rukh Khan, who has given dozens of successful and excellent films in his 33-year career, has won numerous private film awards, he has never received the official Indian ‘National Film Award’.
