Mirpur/Muzaffarabad: A state-level shutdown and shutdown strike was called in Pakistan-administered Kashmir today on the call of the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee. Electricity and internet service were suspended.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while supporting talks on the demands of the Public Action Committee, has appealed to them to end the protest.

Mobile phone and internet services were shut down in all districts and cities of Pakistan-administered Kashmir on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Unlike in the past, this time, fiber internet services were also shut down, after which Kashmiri citizens were left without communication outside the state.
Regarding the internet shutdown, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) spokesperson Zebun-Nisa told Arab News Pakistan that “Internet services have been shut down on the instructions of the Federal Ministry of Interior.”
