London: England’s veteran all-rounder Chris Woakes has announced his retirement from international cricket after a brilliant 15-year career. He made this announcement through a statement on Instagram.
Chris Woakes scored 2034 runs and took 192 wickets in 62 Test matches, while he scored 1524 runs and took 173 wickets in 121 ODIs. He scored 147 runs and took 31 wickets in 33 T20 Internationals.
Woakes was recently out of the Ashes squad due to a shoulder injury. He said, “Now is the time for me to say goodbye to international cricket. Playing for England was a childhood dream of mine, and I will always hold those memories with pride.”
Chris Woakes was part of the team that won the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup. In the 2019 World Cup, he led the team to the final with a brilliant performance against Australia in the semi-final.
