Attack on Pakistan: Possible use of “Elbrus” missiles by Taliban revealed

Staff Reporter, Daily Dawn, Dawn TV Report

Karachi: The use of the “Elbrus” missile system is being suspected in the recent attack on Pakistan by the Afghan Taliban.

Videos circulating on social media show two missiles being fired from Afghanistan, which experts are describing as similar to the Soviet-era 9K72 “Elbrus” ballistic missile.

According to reports, 8K14 and 9M21F-type missiles have also been seen moving in a Taliban convoy. It may be recalled that in 2022, the Taliban had displayed the Elbrus and Luna-M missile systems abandoned by the former Soviet Union, which were allegedly reactivated.

Military analysts say that the attack on the night of October 12 was likely carried out using the same missiles from Afghanistan, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
