Dhaka: A massive fire at Dhaka Airport’s cargo complex has reduced the goods of major garment exporters to ashes, with losses estimated to be in the millions of dollars.
The fire broke out in the import section of the airport’s cargo village, forcing the temporary suspension of flights.
Firefighters and airport officials were busy with rescue operations on Sunday as smoke billowed from the complex.
The fire destroyed the cargo complex, which houses imported raw materials, ready-made garments for export and product samples, essential for Bangladesh’s $47 billion garment industry.
