London: Another whitewash in cricket at the hands of Bangladesh; Shan Masood may announce his resignation from the leadership amid mounting pressure and criticism.

According to Dawn sources, Shan Masood will offer to resign from the captaincy in a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi upon his return home.

The final decision regarding Shan Masood’s future will be at the board chairman’s discretion.

Shan Masood was appointed captain in 2023, under his leadership, Pakistan has lost 12 out of 16 Test matches, after which the sword of resignation or removal from the leadership is hanging over his head.

On the other hand, after losing the Sahlat Test, Shan Masood said in a press conference that we are all very sad about the failures, we feel the feelings of the nation, and we apologize to them for not being able to give good results as expected.

He said that we have to see how Pakistan’s Test cricket can improve without targeting anyone’s individual performance. In team selection, the same decisions are made that everyone considers best for Pakistan.

On repeated questions about leaving the captaincy, he avoided talking much, but he made it clear that my intention is clear, not just by sitting in the captain’s chair, I want to see the graph of the Pakistan Test team go up in any role. Instead of making emotional decisions, we have to see what the shortcomings are that need to be addressed.

Shan Masood said that Pakistan will have to play more Test cricket. There have been opportunities to come back and win in Test matches, but they could not take advantage of them.

The captain also said that we made mistakes and Bangladesh played good cricket.
