Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the launch of a ‘nationwide movement’ while instructing party members and supporters to be ready, however, no date has been announced.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, PTI Senator Ali Zafar wrote that a 6-hour long meeting was held with the former prime minister today, and during this time all issues were discussed.
Senator Ali Zafar further wrote, ‘Some very important issues were discussed, including a nationwide movement for which the party should prepare and be well organized.’
Senator Ali Zafar warned that Imran Khan has said that ‘there is no room for anyone in PTI to play both sides, and everyone should remain united for the cause of truth and justice.’
Referring to Imran Khan, Senator Ali Zafar further wrote, ‘I am enduring all the hardships in jail for the sake of the nation, and the PTI leadership should not be afraid of sacrifice.’
However, Senator Ali Zafar did not say when this movement would start.
It should be noted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been in prison in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for more than two years after being convicted in four cases; two Tosha Khana references, the Cipher case, and the Iddat case in which his wife Bushra Bibi is also in jail.
The PTI has since held several major demonstrations demanding his release, most notably a march towards Islamabad on November 26, 2024, where a day of fierce clashes took place between security forces and PTI protesters, during which the party’s top leadership and party workers were forced to retreat from the red zone.
Meanwhile, Imran’s sister Aleema Khanum also spoke to reporters outside Adiala Jail about the large-scale public movement, although she too did not say when the movement would begin.
Aleema Khan said: “Imran Khan has issued instructions to the party to be ready, he has said ‘I will not invite anyone to Islamabad, because they (the authorities) are sitting with sniper rifles and people are being shot…’ It would hurt me a lot, I won’t do it.’
According to Aleema Khan, Imran Khan has said that the party should be prepared, as he will soon announce a major public movement across Pakistan.
