Islamabad: During the review of audit objections related to the Election Commission for the year 2013-14, the audit authorities have said that the Election Commission gave a 20 percent election allowance to employees without the approval of the Prime Minister.
According to the report, the audit objection regarding the unauthorized granting of 20 percent election allowance of the running basic pay to the employees of the Election Commission was reviewed.
The audit authorities said that the Election Commission paid a 20 percent election allowance of the running basic pay to the employees from March 1, 2013. The allowance was not approved by the Prime Minister, nor was it verified by the Regulations Wing of the Finance Division.
According to audit officials, the matter is still under hearing in the Supreme Court. Election Commission officials said that the Peshawar High Court has ruled in favor of the ECP. Employees are getting a 20 percent allowance. There is no stay order from the Supreme Court.
