Islamabad: The salaries of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate have been increased by more than 600 percent. The salary has been set at Rs 1.3 million
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has issued a notification regarding the increase in salaries, which states that the salary of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate has been set at Rs 1.3 million.
According to the notification, the increase in the salary of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate will be effective from January 1, 2025.
It should be noted that earlier the salary of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate was Rs 205,000.
In January, a committee formed under the chairmanship of Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq approved an increase of Rs 519,000 in the monthly salary of each member of the National Assembly and senator.
Previously, members of the assembly used to receive a monthly salary of Rs. 180,000. It has been learned that the monthly salary of members of the assembly was proposed at Rs. 1 million, but the Speaker of the National Assembly rejected this proposal and agreed to reduce it to Rs. 519,000.
