Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that the attacks targeted the country’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz.
The decision to directly involve the United States in the war comes after more than a week of Israeli attacks on Iran.
According to the French news agency AFP, President Donald Trump said in a televised address after the attacks on Iran that the US military had recently carried out large-scale attacks on three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.
“Our goal was to eliminate Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and to deter the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism,” he said.
“Tonight, I can tell the world that the attacks were a tremendous military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been destroyed,” he said.
“The rogue Iran of the Middle East must now make peace,” Trump said. If he doesn’t do this, there will be far more attacks in the future.’ He said that for 40 years, Iran has been saying, ‘Death to America, Death to Israel.’
