Staff Reporter Daily Dawn + Dawn TV Report

Islamabad: On February 27, 2019, when the Pakistan Air Force shot down two Indian aircraft, the pilot of one of them, Abhinandan Varthaman, jumped into Pakistan-administered Kashmir via parachute to save his life.

When he landed, he was surrounded by locals and started torturing them.

On this occasion, a young captain of the Pakistani army, Syed Moiz Abbas Shah, along with a junior colleague, reached the spot and rescued him from the wrath of the people.

Syed Moiz Abbas Shah, 37, was now holding the rank of Major and was soon to be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel after 14 years of service.

He lost his life in an operation against militants in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal area on Monday.
