Islamabad: The federal government failed to achieve important trade targets in the fiscal year ending on June 30.
The Federal Bureau of Statistics released trade data for the fiscal year 2024-25, according to which the government could not achieve the export target set for the last fiscal year.
Similarly, the federal government could not achieve the annual targets for imports and trade deficits. In the last fiscal year, exports were less than the government target, while imports and trade deficits were higher.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the volume of exports in the fiscal year 2024-25 was $32.106 billion, while the government had set the export target at $32.341 billion.
According to the report of the Bureau of Statistics, the country’s imports in the fiscal year 2024-25 were $58.38 billion, while the government’s target for imports in the previous fiscal year was $57.28 billion.
Similarly, the trade deficit was $26.27 billion, while the target for the trade deficit during the current fiscal year was $24.94 billion. Exports increased by 4.67 percent on an annual basis in the previous fiscal year.
According to the data, imports increased by 6.57 percent during the previous fiscal year 2024-25.
