Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement that the US is imposing sanctions on Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories. The sanctions are imposed over her efforts to bring US and Israeli officials, companies and leaders to the International Criminal Court.
Rubio accused Albanese of bias and said that her efforts to “investigate, arrest, detain or prosecute” US and Israeli citizens in court violated the sovereignty of these countries.
Rubio said, “We will not tolerate these campaigns of political and economic warfare that threaten our national interests and sovereignty.”
