Speaker of KP Assembly refuses to convene a meeting for oath-taking of members on reserved seats

Peshawar: The Speaker has excused himself from convening a meeting on the issue of oath-taking of members on reserved seats of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

According to sources, the Speaker of KP Assembly, I have no authority to convene a meeting of the provincial assembly. The Speaker has replied to the opposition leader.

In a letter sent by the Election Commission to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, it was said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly hall should be provided for the Senate elections on July 21.

The remaining members of the PML-N have said in a letter to the Election Commission that the Speaker of the KP Assembly has refused to convene a meeting for the oath-taking, asking the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court to nominate someone to take the oath because the oath of the members is necessary under Article 225-3.

The Election Commission has informed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat about the oath, stating that according to the constitution, the oath of new members is necessary before the elections, the Speaker should take steps regarding the oath of new members.

According to the Election Commission, the oath-taking process of new members should be completed within a week, while the oath of Nahida Noor, Arifa Bibi and Gorpal Singh should not be taken.
