Commissioner Sahiwal Shahid Mahmood stresses on keeping family size small for development

Sahiwal: Commissioner Sahiwal Shahid Mahmood said that for the development of society, it is necessary to keep the family size small so that children can be provided with education, health and other basic facilities. He was addressing a seminar organized by the Population Welfare Department in connection with World Population Day at the District Council Hall. In which CEO Health Dr. Abdul Majeed Khan Niazi and District Population Welfare Officer Rao Shahid Raza Khan, officers of the Health and Population Welfare Department and field staff participated in large numbers. Commissioner Shahid Mahmood said that due to the increasing population, it has become difficult to provide basic facilities to the common citizen, therefore, it is necessary to create awareness among the people about family planning. CEO Health Dr. Abdul Majeed Khan Niazi said in his address that if the current rate of population growth continues, Pakistan’s population will double by 2050, which is a big challenge for the country’s resources. District Population Welfare Officer Rao Shahid Raza Khan said that the purpose of celebrating World Population Day is to create awareness among the people regarding family planning according to their means. He said that the immense increase in population is a moment of concern that needs immediate attention. At the end of the ceremony, commemorative shields were also presented to the distinguished guests. An awareness walk was also conducted on the occasion.
