Sahiwal: Commissioner Shahid Mahmood made a surprise visit to various important areas of the city to review ongoing development projects, sanitation situation, and drainage in the city. He visited several places including Kampri Hanso Chowk, College Chowk, Mal Mandi Chowk, Baher Wala Ada, Girls College Road and Ali Masjid Chowk where he inspected the ongoing sewerage and road maintenance works under the PECAP program, reviewed the sanitation arrangements and reviewed the municipal corporation’s preparations for effective rainwater drainage in detail. He directed the officers present not to compromise on the quality and speed of development works while ensuring immediate action on public complaints regarding sanitation and drainage. He stressed on completing the ongoing sewerage and road repair works under the PECAP project as soon as possible and clarified that relieving the citizens from daily problems is the top priority of the district administration. He also inspected the sanitation arrangements being carried out by the Sahiwal Water and Sanitation Services Company and inquired from the staff present on the spot about the sanitation system, availability of machinery and the system of daily garbage collection. CEO Sheikh Ashfaq gave a briefing on the arrangements for immediate drainage and rainwater drainage, on which the Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction and emphasized that all departments should remain alert to deal with any emergency situation.
