In the past two years, three new political parties have been announced in addition to Reham Khan’s party, but Reham is not the first woman to form a party.

After founding a new political party yesterday, Reham Khan has become the fifth woman to head a political party. Women have also founded political parties in Pakistan before her.

Establishing a political party is nothing new in Pakistan. However, the creation of the fourth political party in two years is definitely a record. Reham Khan, the ex-wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has also announced a new political party and her political party is called ‘Pakistan Republic Party’.

Before Reham Khan’s Republic Party, the ‘Istiqam Party,’ ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians,’ and then the ‘Awam Pakistan Party’ came into existence in the last two years.

It is likely that Zulfikar Bhutto Jr., the grandson of the former prime minister and son of Mir Murtaza Bhutto, will also announce his own political party soon.

The aforementioned ‘Istiqam Party’ and ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians’ branches sprang from the PTI, while the Awam Pakistan Party was founded by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Talking about women, Reham Khan is the fifth Pakistani woman to head a political party.
