The Rangers official who tortured a professor for refusing to burn garbage in the Staff Town of the University of Karachi has been officially suspended.

The Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) has said that a senior officer of Pakistan Rangers Sindh has suspended the Rangers official involved in the torture of Professor Afaq Ahmed Siddiqui in the Staff Town of the University of Karachi.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, a delegation of KITS along with Professor Afaq Siddiqui met the Rangers sector commander, following which the concerned Rangers guard was suspended and departmental action was also ordered against him.

Professor Afaq Siddiqui had an argument with the guard of his neighboring senior Rangers officer over the issue of burning garbage on July 15.

According to the professor, the guard abused him and slapped him on the face.
