Five Al Jazeera journalists killed in Israeli attack, 200 media workers have lost their lives

The attack is one of the latest incidents of targeting journalists in the 22-month war in Gaza

Gaza: Qatar’s international broadcaster Al Jazeera said two of its correspondents, including a prominent journalist and three video journalists, were killed in an Israeli attack in Gaza City on Sunday.

The attack is one of the latest incidents of targeting journalists in the 22-month war in Gaza. According to international media organizations, about 200 media workers have lost their lives during the conflict.

The broadcaster said on Monday morning: “Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif was killed along with four colleagues in a targeted Israeli strike when a tent set up for journalists in Gaza City was hit.”

The statement added that Al-Sharif, 28, was killed when a tent for journalists was targeted outside the main gate of a hospital. He was a leading correspondent for Al Jazeera Arabic and reported extensively from northern Gaza.

The channel said that other staff killed in the attack included Mohammed Qariqiyah, and camera operators Ibrahim Zahir, Mohammed Nofal and Momine Alawi.
